About the Ithaca Libertarians

The Ithaca Libertarians are the Tompkins County chapter of the Libertarian Party of New York. Formed in the summer of 2004 by a small group of activists promoting Libertarian candidates, we became an official Party affiliate at our first annual Convention in February 2005.

The purpose of the Ithaca Libertarians is to establish a Libertarian presence in Tompkins County and the surrounding area, and become part of a state and national LP network that promotes libertarian ideals and supports Libertarian candidates.

We hold regular monthly meetings, community outreach events, and social gatherings. We support local college Libertarian organizations. We try to bring a libertarian perspective to local issues through editorials, letters to the editor, press releases, and public events. And we hope to develop and support local candidates, to work toward a less intrusive government and protect our rights to life, liberty, and property.
